So, just what is this all about, and why am I doing this???? Give me a few moments to explain...
This all started when I was looking around the World Of Spectrum
web site one day in April 2002, when I spotted the news that the Sinclair ZX Spectrum computer was 20 years old.
Now, this may not seem like much to you, but that sparked certain memories in my mind....
Then it suddenly hit me "WOW 20 years!! Phew, that's when I got my Spectrum, how old does that make me feel???"
I then started to play on the Spectrum emulators that I had lying around that are available for the PC, and had a jolly good time,
but somehow it wasn't enough, something was nagging me in the back of my mind "What if I had a REAL Spectrum?"
Was there anyway I could possibly get one? No, I thought, cant be possible! Well, two minutes of looking round
eBay soon proved me wrong, there were Spectrums to be had.
A few more days of looking around what was available on eBay, and I had got myself a 48K ZX Spectrum, complete
in the original box, with all the user manuals. Well, I just couldn't wait for this to arrive, it was to be the first
of what would be many parcels I would have delivered to my Mum as I'm never at home when the postie comes!
Well, the day soon arrived, and I went to get my parcel. We opened it, and couldn't believe it, there in front of us
was this little tiny Spectrum, WOW!!!!
So we plugged it into the TV, connected up a tape player, and switched it on.
Five minutes of the high-pitched squealing, and dazzling patterns on the TV screen, and the game of all games,
Manic Miner had loaded. I'd played this before on Spectrum emulators, but being on a real-life rubber-keyed
Spectrum brought a whole new meaning to it.
Well I soon found that I couldn't stop there, I kept logging on to eBay to see what I could find, and before I knew
it was buying all sorts of old computers, trying to collect the ones I once owned. It didn't take long as I only
ever had a ZX Spectrum, Atari ST, I still have my original ST. Oh, and I have had a PlayStation and PS2, but you won't find
anything about those on here, far too modern!
This web site (for the moment) is just about the computers I have collected over the months. You won't find any
old boring IBM PC type things here, this is purely fun computers in here, some you will have heard of, and some
you may not have.
That's enough of the waffling from me, but if you want to talk, why not pop over to the forums
and reminisce over the good ol' days, when computers where fun :-)
Cheers,
Mikey
